The House of Representatives harshly criticized the European Parliament for its decision on the human rights situation in Egypt.
A statement issued by the Council chaired by Dr. Ali Abdel-Aal said it was following with great discontent the European Parliament resolution on the human rights situation in Egypt, which included many fallacies contrary to reality and to the Egyptian interior, considering that the decision of the European Parliament is unacceptable and not suitable for the Egyptian – European strategic partnership.
The Council announced its rejection of the European Parliament decision, in full and in detail, and described it as an expression of politicized objectives and an unbalanced approach.
In its statement, the House of Representatives called on the European Parliament not to appoint itself as Egypt’s guardian and to steer Parliament away from politicizing human rights issues for political or electoral purposes, asking them to objectively consider the reality of matters in Egypt and stay away from double standards.
He continued: The Council, the President and the members are astonished by the assertions of the European Parliament regarding the Egyptian judicial procedures and their judgment, while the separation of powers and non-interference in the work of the judiciary is part of the core of the state of right, which is something that is firmly in the conscience of the Egyptian state. It was the first time that the European Parliament offered an objective view of Egypt’s efforts to maintain security and stability, not only at the national level, but also at the regional level, especially in the fields of the fight against terrorism and immigration. illegal in light of highly turbulent and complex regional conditions, as well as clear efforts by Egypt. And the profound way to improve the life of the Egyptian citizen in the face of the development boom that the Egyptian state is witnessing that has not stopped even during the confrontation with the Corona pandemic.
