Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, was eager to follow up on the fire that broke out in one of the back rooms on the third floor of the Al-Azhar mosque building, a few hours ago, and ordered Al-Azhar-related departments to follow the course of affairs and take what is necessary immediately, and report first-hand to his eminence on the latest developments.

The Sheikh of Al-Azhar assured, through his contact with the Al-Azhar mosque administration, that the mosque building and its main areas, including recent renovations, were not affected by it, and requested that will provide you with an urgent and complete report on the damage caused and the speed of the repair.

For his part, Dr. Hani Odeh, director of the Al-Azhar Mosque, said that the fire that broke out in the mosque a while ago was a limited fire in one of the back rooms on the third floor of the mosque, noting that there was been controlled in cooperation with the Civil Protection Forces.

The civil defense forces and the concerned authorities traveled to the Al-Azhar mosque, in the presence of Dr. Abdel Moneim Fouad, general supervisor of the mosque’s scientific corridors, and Dr. Hani Odeh, director of the mosque of Al-Azhar.
