His Eminence the Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, met today, Sunday, at the Al-Azhar Sheikhdom headquarters in the study, with Jean-Yves Lourdian, the Minister of Relations Foreign of France. Discuss the crisis of cartoons offensive to the Holy Prophet, and clarify your country’s position on this.

The Grand Imam sent a series of sharp messages to the French Foreign Minister, during which he abandoned his usual diplomacy, to defend Islam and its honorable messenger, considering that Al-Azhar represents the voice of almost two billion Muslims.

Al-Ahram Gate monitors these messages as follows:

My talk is far from diplomacy when I speak of Islam and its Prophet, may the peace and prayers of God be upon him.

The Grand Imam of the French Foreign Minister: We will sue those who insult our noble Prophet even if we spend our whole lives.

– If you consider offending our prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace, freedom of expression, then we reject it in form and substance.

– We will follow those who offend our noble prophet in international courts, even if we spend our entire lives doing just that.

Europe owes to our Prophet Muhammad and our religion what this religion brought light to all mankind.

We refuse to describe terrorism as Islamic, and we have neither the time nor the luxury to accept terms that do not interest us, and everyone should stop this term immediately; Because it offends the feelings of Muslims in the world, a term that contradicts the truth that everyone knows.

– The statement of the French Foreign Minister during the course of the crisis was respected and appreciated by us, and it was a voice of reason and wisdom that we encouraged.

Muslims around the world (rulers and ruled) affirm the innocence of Islam and its prophet of any terrorism.

Al-Azhar represents the voice of almost two billion Muslims, and I said that the terrorists do not represent us and that we are not responsible for their actions. You need an apology.

We wanted officials in Europe to be aware that what is happening does not represent Islam or Muslims. Especially since Muslims pay the most for this terrorism.
