Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, chaired, on Sunday, the meeting of the Supreme Committee for the Management of the Coronavirus Crisis, with the participation of several ministers and officials, through videoconferencing technology.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister confirmed that the last few days have witnessed a significant increase in the number of infected people, forcing this meeting to be held to discuss the measures that will be followed in the coming days to limit the spread of the virus.

Counselor Nader Saad, spokesman for the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, stated that the meeting witnessed discussions on various files, and it was emphasized that all New Year celebrations would be canceled and that steps were taken to close any facility hosting any celebration, in addition to the total prohibition of wedding tents, funerals and any gathering.

Emphasis was placed on stopping activities, celebrations or festivals during the next period, and on the complete closure of the event halls, and the total emphasis on all hotels regarding the numbers specified in the wedding, and that they are only in open spaces.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister ordered to activate the immediate fine for offenders after completing their procedures, starting next Sunday, corresponding to January 3, 2021, to serve as a clear message that the State faces any violation of precautionary measures with the utmost severity and firmness.

It was agreed that the immediate fine would be for people who do not apply precautionary measures and do not wear a muzzle, since an immediate fine of 50 pounds will be charged, and in case of non-payment, the offender will be immediately transferred to the competent prosecutor’s office to take the necessary actions.

The Prime Minister was also in charge of following up on the 50% commitment in restaurants and cafes, and intensifying campaigns, in the most affected provinces, and it was agreed to apply an immediate fine for any infraction of establishments such as restaurants and cafes, in the amount of EGP 4,000 with the facility closed for one week, provided that the collection of fines begins on Sunday. Then also, and in the event of repeated infringement, the closing period is doubled.

Regarding the role of the events, it has been ordered that regarding the role of the events that are proven to be violated and belong to state entities, those responsible will be referred for immediate investigation, and in the event that they are affiliated with an association the fine will apply and action will be taken against the association’s board of directors.

It was also noted during the meeting that the Egypt Medicines Authority is taking steps according to the scientific rationale followed to register a number of different types of vaccines that have been announced internationally, and once the registration of vaccines is completed, the companies that produce these vaccines will be hired according to the required quantities, and at the same time they will take over. The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of the Interior prepare the arrangements and procedures by which citizens will be vaccinated with the vaccine, in accordance with the standards established by the Ministry of Health.

During the meeting of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management, Dr. Tariq Shawky, Minister of Education and Technical Education, presented the procedures for conducting the exams for the first semester of this academic year for all educational stages, highlighting that they come according to the precautionary and preventive measures that are applied in the context of facing a viral crisis. During the presentation, the Minister confirmed the availability of various therapeutic protocol drugs for cases infected by Coronavirus, as well as medical supplies in large quantities sufficient to face the second wave of the virus.
