The cities of Saint Catherine, Nuweiba and Tor Sinai, in the South Sinai governorate, were hit by torrential torrents, the most severe impact was on the town of “Al Tarfa”, which is affiliated with the city of Saint Catherine.
For his part, engineer Ashraf Al-Nimr, director of the Office of the Water Resources Research Institute in South Sinai, confirmed that the governorate was exposed to torrents on Sunday night, as the city of Santa Catalina witnessed of moderate rains that fell on the mountains of the Al-Raha Valley region and became Seoul. Where he carried some road signs in the field of Wadi Al Raha.
“Al-Nimr” added that the torrential torrents in Al-Tarfa village came from the Bedouin community of Abu Wasilah and the surrounding mountains.
Eyewitnesses said that the torrents left some losses, which are being counted.
The Al-Tur road was exposed, some 20 kilometers before the ambush, to a torrent of moderate intensity, coming from the Bedouin community of Wadi Hebran, but did not affect the movement of vehicles, and the torrent crossed the international highway.
Al-Nimr explained that the city of Nuweiba was exposed to torrential torrents, which were able to absorb water storage dams and lakes, and did not cause material losses.
He noted that the stored torrents benefit citizens for drinking, grazing and agriculture.
