Oman’s Health Minister Ahmed bin Muhammad Al-Saeedi said in a television interview that:A study is underway to confirm the presence of 4 cases from the UK, indicating that the study of the genetic map of the virus continues and will be announced, according to Oman’s official news agency.
Al-Saeedi confirmed that Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, the Supreme Committee and the technical team are closely monitoring all developments of this virus.
Al-Saeedi pointed out that viruses in general, especially RNA viruses, including the Corona virus, are rapidly mutating, and since the genetic map of this virus is known, it has had more than 4,000 mutations.
Oman’s Minister of Health stated that there is no indication that the new strain is more cruel and dangerous than the parent virus, noting that currently available vaccines will have the same response as the parent virus.
Al-Saeedi revealed that the Sultanate will receive 15,600 doses of the Corona vaccine next Thursday, and that around 28,000 doses will arrive next January.
The Minister of Health of Oman indicated that The Ministry has established controls for the target groups of the vaccine, and the priority will be for those who suffer from chronic diseases and those over 60 years of age, highlighting that next Sunday the vaccination of the vaccine will begin in the Sultanate.
The minister stressed that there are no signs or the need to close any part of the Sultanate and that there is epidemiological surveillance, and if the Supreme Committee decides that there will be a future closure in the Sultanate, it will be in limited places.
