The great Syrian singer Mayada Basilis passed away on Wednesday night.

The Syrian daily Al-Watan said that artist Mayada Bassilis died at the age of 54 after a fight with cancer.

The Syrian Information Ministry mourned the death of the artist Mayada Basilis, who passed away today.

The husband of the late actress, musician Samir Kouifati, confirmed a few weeks ago that he had cancer.

Syrian singer Mayada Basilis was born in 1967 in the city of Aleppo, and began her singing career at the age of nine on Radio Aleppo.

The late singer released 14 albums beginning in 1986, beginning with the album “Ya Qatli Al Hajar”, a song from ancient Syrian folklore.

His song “Kazdak Helou”, which won the Gold Award for Best Arabic Song in 1999, is his passport to the world of fame.

In 2010 he released an album entitled “To my mother and my land”, a work that came very late to its release, but which was at the level expected and to which the Mayada fans were accustomed. During her career, Mayada also sang many badges for big series like: “Brothers of the Earth” and “Days of Rage”.

Mayada performed numerous concerts in various forums, the most outstanding of which was a concert at the “Palacio de Bellas Artes” complex in San Francisco – United States, and her two concerts at the Madrid Opera and the Egyptian Opera in 1998.
