The death of artist Mahmoud Yassin, aged 79

The great artist Mahmoud Yassin died some time ago, at the age of 79, after a long fight against the disease.

The artist, Amr Mahmoud Yassin, announced the death and published on his personal page on the social network a photo of his father and commented on it saying: “The artist, Mahmoud Yassin, passed away, at the mercy of God. My father, the artist Mahmoud Yassin … We belong to God and to Him we return. I ask you to pray “

Mahmoud Fouad Mahmoud Yassin was born in Port Said in 1941 and was linked to the theater since he was in high school through the (Theater Club) in Port Said, and his dream at that time was to one day be on the stage of the National Theater. He moved to Cairo to attend university and graduated from Law School.

He fulfilled his dream of joining the National Theater, in which he and other theaters performed dozens of outstanding works such as (Layla and Majnun), (Khedive), (Happened in October), (The Return of the Absentee), (The Visit Ended ), (Beginning and End) and (Al-Halawan).

He had small film roles in the late 1960s, until his big break came in the movie (We Don’t Plant Thorns) with Shadia in 1970, and then films followed, including (The Fine Thread) opposite Faten Hamama and ( Nose and three eyes) in front of Majida Al Sabahi and (Down from Medina) in front of Nadia Lotfi and (Mawlid Ya Dunya) in front of singer Afaf Radi and (Remember me) in front of Najla Fathi and (Al Batinah) in front of Nadia Al- Jundi and (The session is secret) in front of Yusra and (Al-Harafish) in front of Safia Al-Omar-Omar.

On television, he presented dozens of series, including “The Dawah”, “Tomorrow Flowers Bloom”, “A Husband’s Memoirs”, “The Second Meeting”, “Brother of the Girls”, “Al Yaqeen”, “Disobedience”, ” Souk Al Asr “,” Waad and Not Written “and (Against the Current), (East Winds) and (Abu Hanifa al-Numan).

The advancement of age gave him more space to play distinctive roles in the cinema in which he was next to the next generations of stars, for which he participated in (Al-Jazeera) with Ahmed Al-Sakka and (Al-Wa ‘ d) with Asir Yassin and (Izbat Adam) with Ahmed Azmy, Majid Al-Kadwani and (Gedo Habibi) with Bushra.
