Mazen Marzouq, Chairman of the Competitions Committee of the Egyptian Football Association, commented on the decision of the African Football Confederation (CAF) to hold the African Super Cup in the first half of next year 2021.

On Thursday, CAF announced the establishment of the African Super Cup between Al-Ahly, champions of the African Champions League, and Nahdet Berkane of Morocco, champions of the Confederacy, in Qatar instead of Egypt in the first half of 2021 officially.

“I was working on the fact that the African Super Cup will be held on December 10 before the league starts in a disciplined way,” Marzouq said in televised remarks to “Ontime Sports.”

He added: “Every game that is postponed will cause us a problem because Al-Ahly will play the Club World Cup and the Egyptian Super Cup as well, and I said earlier that the Champions League champion will face the pressure of the matches at times.” .

The chair of the Competitions Committee addressed a request to the African Union regarding the Super African, saying: “I hope that a specific date for the match will be announced instead of the first half of the year, because it is likely to be from January to June. “.

On the end date of the 2020/2021 tournament, which starts Friday night, Marzouk explained: “We are trying, in two years, to return to the normal season, which starts in August and ends in May, but needs a transition stage “.

He concluded: “If things go normally, we are expected to finish the league on August 15, and start the next season in late September before ending in late May or early June, and then come back to start the next season. in August like all the countries of the world “.
