Al-Ahly maintained their first position in defending their “Club Horn of Africa” title, after winning the CAF Champions League for the ninth time in their history at the expense of Zamalek last Friday.
Al-Ahly added 5 points to his score in the CAF cumulative ranking, which determines the champion of the 21st century, according to the criteria set by the African Union.
Al-Ahly can add a new point to their balance if they win the Super Cup at the expense of Nahdet Berkane, and score two points for each victory the team achieves in the Club World Cup.
The ranking of the clubs by the number of points came after Al-Ahly won the African Champions League, as follows.
1- Al-Ahly 76 points
2- The Congolese Mazembe, with 54 points
3- Etoile Sahel from Tunisia 50 points
4- Esperance from Tunisia, 49 points
5- Zamalek Al-Masry, 31 points
6- Moroccan Wydad 30 points
In another context, journalist Omar Rabi` Yassin said that he had contacted Sereno, the forward and star of the South African team Sun Downs, to find out the latest news in his negotiations with the Al-Ahly club.
Omar Rabih Yassin confirmed on Al-Nahar channel’s “Number One” program: “Sereno Agdali has approached Al-Ahly strongly and Al-Ahly is looking to join the player this summer.”
He continued: “Al-Ahly is aggressively seeking to include Sereno, and if Al-Ahly does not resolve the Sereto negotiations in 48 hours, the negotiations will be postponed until the next winter transfers.”
He explained: “Sereno and his agent refused to appear in the media out of respect for Al-Ahly and the Sun Downs Club.”
He concluded: “Sereno will be Geraldo’s substitute and everyone knows it.”
Private sources revealed that there has been a breakthrough in recent hours in the Al-Ahly and Sun Downs negotiations to include the latter’s player, Augustine Sereno.
Sources said there is a breakthrough in the possibility of joining Sereno to Al-Ahly that appeared today after Sun Downs put in some of the conditions he wanted, indicating his conviction to agree to the player’s departure.
The coaching staff of the Al-Ahly club’s first football team affirmed their strong commitment to the survival of Marwan Mohsen in the team’s ranks.
