The Sudan Sovereign Transitional Council has announced that the military component has permanently agreed to nominate Major General Maash Yassin Ibrahim Yassin, for the post of Defense Minister and the dismissal of Health Minister Akram El Tom.
A statement issued by the council, published on its official page on the social networking site “Facebook”, said: “The Transitional Sovereignty Council stated that the military component finally agreed to nominate Major General Pension Yassin Ibrahim Yassin for the position of Defense Minister. Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Hamdouk received Yassin’s nomination to be appointed to the post, and was later approved by the Sovereign Council, according to the constitutional document.
Al-Tom’s removal comes after the Emirati newspaper Al-Ain published a story about his removal. The news from the Emirati newspaper stated that the Alliance of Freedom and Change Forces and the Council of Ministers and Sovereignty had formally called for the dismissal of Health Minister Akram Al-Tom.
The forces of the declaration of freedom and change issued a statement, denying what was published by the Emirati newspaper, confirming that they had not demanded the removal of the Sudanese Minister of Health, and that they had not discussed this matter with any component of the decision, in against what was stated in the statement of the Transitional Sovereignty Council.
The Sudanese Health Minister announced in a press release on Tuesday that the death rate in Sudan had dropped to 4.9 percent, stressing that this was due to the efforts of health cadres suffering from lack of some necessary supplies and the continuous attacks of some of its affiliates until now.
