Scientists have concluded that mouthwashes such as “Dentil” can kill “Covid-19” under laboratory conditions, as they consider it a “promising” sign to fight the deadly virus.
A scientific study said that mouthwash can kill the Corona virus in 30 seconds in the laboratory, as the preliminary result comes before the clinical trial to see if the use of mouthwash that is dispensed without a prescription has the ability to reduce the Covid-10 levels in the saliva of patients.
And Cardiff University, which conducted the study, indicated that mouthwashes containing at least 0.07% stearidinium chloride showed promising signs of their ability to fight the virus.
The British newspaper Daily Mirror confirmed in its report on Tuesday that the study is still under review, but supports another study published this week, which concluded that mouthwashes based on this substance are effective in reducing the “viral load” of Covid -19.
The newspaper noted that the scientists conducted the latest tests in the university laboratory, where they simulated the throat conditions of the person who used mouthwash products, including “Dentil.”
He noted that another clinical trial will then be conducted to test the effectiveness of face lift in reducing viral load in the saliva of Covid-19 patients, at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, where it was decided that its results They will be published in the first part of 2021.
The report stated that ‘Dentil’ is the only mouthwash in the UK to participate in the 12-week clinical trial led by Professor David Thomas of Cardiff University under the title: ‘Measuring the activity of antiviral mouthwash against Covid -19 “.
Dr. Thomas emphasized that while mouthwash products are very effective in killing the virus in the laboratory, we need to make sure it works in patients, and this is the point of our ongoing clinical study.
He added: “It is important to note that the study will not give us direct evidence of transmission of the virus between patients, as this requires a different type of study at a broader level.”
He continued: “The ongoing clinical study will explain the timeframe to continue with the results, after using mouthwash in patients with ‘Covid-19’.
Dental prosthetics specialist Dr. Nick Claydon expressed his belief that this study is “extremely valuable” and said: “If these positive results were reflected in the Cardiff University clinical experience, that is, the use of a mouthwash such as “Dentil” then it becomes an important addition to a person’s daily routine, that is, use it with hand washing, physical distancing and use of masks, now and in the future.
