Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, confirmed that coordination has been made with the Ministry of Civil Aviation to send a special plane to Tunis on Wednesday, to return the mission of the Egyptian youth team.

In statements published in an official statement from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Sobhi indicated that the decision to return the Egyptian youth team to Tunisia is “purely technical” after reviewing the situation with Amr Al-Ganaini, head of the management committee of the Egyptian Football Association, and Rabih Yassin, technical director of the team.

Sobhi said: “Coordination was made with the Minister of Civil Aviation and the Egyptian ambassador to Tunisia to send a special plane to return the Egyptian youth team to Cairo on Wednesday.”

He continued: “According to the current situation data, it is difficult for the Egyptian team to complete the North African tournament due to the numerical shortage of the team in light of sufficient regulations, after contacting Amr Al-Ganaini.”

He added: “The technical vision of the Egyptian team led by Rabie Yassin confirmed the absence of complete lines of the team’s strength due to the large number of infections with the Coronavirus, which makes competition difficult.”

He explained: “The situation and the results of the swabs of all the players are being monitored during the next few hours to know the news that may permanently affect the decision to participate or not in the tournament, and in accordance with its regulations.”

He concluded: “We thank the Tunisian authorities for communicating with the Tunisian Minister of Sports, who provided all the facilities and support for the Egyptian team with all parties interested in the situation.”

It should be noted that the African Union considered the withdrawal of the Egyptian team from the confrontation with Libya, which was scheduled for Tuesday, due to the lack of a quorum of the “15 players” team in the match due to the large number of infections with the virus Crown.
