A source from the Confederation of African Football Confederation (CAF) was shocked to confirm that the CAF Council did not reject any letter from the Zamalek Club signed by Mortada Mansour, president of the club.
In exclusive remarks to Al-Masry Al-Youm, the source said that recent statements made by Sherif El-Erian, secretary of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, were extremely dangerous and lacking credibility.
A leading source within the CAF executive body challenged, by Al-Erian or any official of the Olympic Committee headed by Hisham Hatab, to prove the validity of this incident, underlining that it is only malicious statements that are intended to cause confusion and a crisis between CAF and Zamalek and their fans before the semi-finals of the African Champions League.
The source added that the KAF will formally ask officials in Cairo, whether in Jabalia, the Quintet Committee or the Olympic Committee, to apologize for these inappropriate statements or to prove their authenticity.
