Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, confirmed that it was decided to postpone the process of sowing the winter seed at the Cairo Stadium until after November, to host the final of the African Champions League.
Al-Ahly and Zamalek will meet in the Champions League final on November 27, which will be played at the Burj Al-Arab stadium in Alexandria.
The Sports Minister added in a televised statement on channel ON E: “God willing, the final will be held at the Cairo Stadium. Egypt is holding the first African final between Al-Ahly and Zamalek.”
He continued: “The nature of the grounds of the Cairo Stadium has a special way of treating. It is planted twice in summer and in winter in November.”
Sobhi explained: “We had a session with the stadium officials and it was decided to postpone the sowing of the winter seed until after the Al-Ahly and Zamalek match.”
He concluded: “The Olympic and Olympic matches of the first two teams will be held at the Cairo Stadium.”
The first team will face Togo in the qualifiers for the Cameroon Cup of Nations 2021, while the Olympic team will face Brazil and South Korea in friendly preparations for the Tokyo Olympics next summer.
