Tunisian director Mehdi Bersaoui’s film “Bik Naish” won the best feature film award at the Malmö Arab Film Festival in its 10th edition, on which the curtain dropped on Monday night in Sweden.
The film is about the story of a husband and wife whose son was shot during a terrorist attack, which requires a liver transplant, and after conducting the necessary tests, the husband discovers that the son is not his son, which causes a breakdown in his relationship with his wife, but this does not deter him from trying to save her life.
In the same competition, Sudanese Amjad Abu Al-Alaa won the best director award for his film “You Will Die at Twenty” starring Mustafa Shehata and Islam Mubarak, while the screenplay award went to the late Egyptian Nadine Shams El Din for his film “When We Are Born”, directed by Tamer Ezzat.
Tunisian Najla Bin Abdullah won the best actress award for his role in the film “Bik We Live”, and Egyptian Mohamed Hatem won the best actor award for his role in “When We Are Born”.
“Speaking of Trees” by Sudanese director Suhaib Qesam Al-Bari won the Best Documentary Award in addition to the Audience Award.
In the short film competition, the Egyptian film “God deserves you, oh my heart” by Lamia Idris won, while the jury awarded its special prize to the film “Three logical ways out” by the Danish Palestinian-born director Mahdi Fleifel.
The committee also took note of the films (My Mother) by Lebanese Wassim Geagea and (Trap) by Egyptian Nada Riad.
After the award ceremony, the Algerian film (Barricades) by Rachid Ben Hajj was presented at the closing of the festival, to which most of the winning businessmen were absent due to international flight conditions due to the Corona virus outbreak.
In his speech, the founder and president of the festival, Mohamed Keblawi, announced the change of the periodic date of the festival, which was established in 2011, to take place annually in April instead of October.
