Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, revealed expectations of an increase in the number of new cases of Coronavirus during the month of April.
Zayed told a World Health Organization conference on Thursday: “If we follow the same system as the beginning of the pandemic in Egypt as the first wave, then the beginning of the increase will be in April, and the peak will be at the end. April and the first of next May “.
He added: “In the second wave, we expected an increase in cases in January and December, because there are several reasons for this, with the increase in cases of respiratory diseases, and the possibilities of being exposed to more infection as a consequence of staying at home. for long periods of time. “
And he went on to say: “The first wave in Egypt was the beginning of the peak at the end of April, and then if there is a possibility of increasing the number of cases, it will be next April as it happened last year.”
Yesterday, the Ministry of Health announced the registration of 610 new cases that were positive for laboratory analysis of the virus, as part of the necessary surveillance, investigation and examination procedures carried out by the ministry in accordance with the guidelines of the World Organization of Health, and the death of 53 new cases.
The total number that was recorded in Egypt with the new Corona virus, as of Wednesday, was 171,390 cases, including 133,331 cases that were cured and 9,804 deaths.
