Scientists point out that normal antibodies prevent viruses by attaching to proteins on their surface, but autoantibodies are irregularly shaped, mistakenly binding to proteins in human cells.

The experts also explained that despite the presence of a certain amount of autoantibodies in some patients before the “Covid-19” infection, others appeared as the infection progressed.

And it has been reported that more than 5% of hospitalized patients have antibodies that weaken an important component of immune defense controlled by proteins called interferons.

Scientists have long known that diseases like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and multiple sclerosis are caused by a defect in the immune system and its attack on the body. However, the ability of a viral infection to induce autoimmune responses has not been well studied, but work is being done in this direction.
