Saeb Erekat died after being infected by the Coronavirus

Today, Tuesday, Fatah announced the news of the death of Dr. Saeb Erekat, Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Fatah.

Erekat is reported to have been infected with the Corona virus, his condition deteriorated, and he was transferred to Hadassah Hospital weeks ago.

Erekat was being treated for weeks at the Israeli “Hadassah” hospital in Jerusalem, where he was transferred due to deteriorating health. In early October, Erekat, 65, announced that he had been infected with the virus that causes “Covid-19.”

Although his condition was stable at first, his health deteriorated, necessitating his transfer to the hospital.

And in late October, he underwent a lobotomy at the Israeli hospital.

Erekat’s case was considered particularly complex given his long history of health problems, including a lung transplant in 2017.

Erekat was the main negotiator in the talks with Israel and an advisor to the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and current President Mahmoud Abbas.
