Press reports revealed that the South African Sundowns Club is refusing to sell its Uruguayan player Gaston Sereno to Al-Ahly Club because of Pitso Mosimane, former coach of the “Brazilians” and current Red Genius.
The name Sereno was associated with moving to Al-Ahly at the request of his former South African coach, Pitso Mosimane, during the transfers this summer, to reinforce the team’s attack in the new 2020/2021 season.
According to the South African network “Soccer Ladoma”, Sereno attracted the attention of Al-Ahly to join him before Mosimane was appointed the team’s technical director earlier this month, before the desire to sign him grew after the arrival of the coach to Cairo.
He added that Sereno will not play again under Musimani’s leadership in Al-Ahly, because there is intransigence on the part of the Sundowns administration in neglecting the player’s services.
According to some sources at Sundowns, the South African Network stated that the club was shocked by Musimane’s sudden departure after renewing his four-year contract for 12 million South African rand annually five months ago.
The newspaper noted that Sereno recently signed a new contract linking him to Sundowns for a period of five years, as evidence of his commitment to stay for a longer period with the South African team, adding that this did not prevent Al-Ahly from leaving. interested in joining him to strengthen the team’s attack.
The newspaper concluded by saying: “The evidence indicates that Sereno will stay in Sundowns, but each player has a price in football and if the Egyptian club, known for its financial strength, makes a great financial offer to hire the player, then everything is possible”.
