Egypt announced the failure to reach a common formula in the Renaissance Dam negotiations.

Today, Friday, the Egyptian Ministry of Water Resources stated that, based on the results of the African mini-summit, a meeting was held today, headed by water ministers from the three countries under the auspices of the African Union and in the presence of observers from member states of the Office of the African Union, the United States and the European Union, and experts from the Commission of the African Union, to discuss the achievement of a common formula on AlNahda Dam.

The meetings began with an exchange of keynote speeches between the ministers, while the Egyptian delegation reviewed the results of the legal and technical committee’s work on the initial combined version of the three countries’ proposals.

The ministry stated that the incompatibility between the three countries continued in many legal and technical points with respect to the initial compiled version prepared by the three countries, as it had not yet lived up to its presentation before the body of the office of the African Union headed by South Africa.

The ministry revealed that after a lengthy discussion on the negotiations over the next period, the water ministers agreed at the end of the meeting that each individual country would send a letter to the South African president that includes their vision for the next stage of the negotiations.

The ministry had confirmed a few days ago that disputes still existed over the Renaissance dam.

Mohamed El Sebaei, spokesman for Egypt’s Ministry of Water Resources, said in previous statements to Al Arabiya.net that the three countries exchanged their proposals on an agreement for the filling and operation of the dam and the working mechanisms, based on which The negative aspects could be avoided and a consensus formula could be reached for the final texts that combine the proposals of the three countries. In a comprehensive, comprehensive and satisfactory agreement for the interests of each country
