Rudy Giuliani, an attorney for US President Donald Trump, tried to defend himself after appearing in a clip from a new comedy movie with his hands in his pants.
The former mayor of New York City described the clip, in the new part of the film “Porat,” as “a total fabrication.”
“I was adjusting my shirt after taking off my recording equipment,” he explained on Twitter.
He was referring to a part of the film, starring British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen, where he is being interviewed by an actress pretending to be a television journalist.
The actress plays the daughter of Porat’s character in the new film.
The film, scheduled for release on Friday, is a sequel to the 2006 hit film “Porat,” in which Baron Cohen played an unreal journalist from Kazakhstan.
In the new movie filmed earlier this year, Baron Cohen again tries to ambush American politicians and members of the public.
The scene in which Giuliani appeared relates to an interview in a hotel room about the Trump administration’s response to the Coronavirus outbreak.
Then the young actress invited Giuliani, 76, to have a drink with her. After removing the microphone, he lay down on the bed and seemed to be shoving his hands inside his pants.
Referring to this passage, Giuliani wrote on Twitter: “At no time did I act, not before, during or after the interview, totally inappropriate. And if Sacha Baron Cohen refers to something different, then he is a complete liar.”
Giuliani said in July that he initially thought he had been asked for a serious interview.
He explained in another tweet on Wednesday: “As soon as I realized it was a trap, I called the police.”
“This is an attempt to curb my constant exposure to crime and corruption committed by (Democratic presidential candidate) Joe Biden and his entire family.”
Trump’s camp has accused his Democratic White House rival and his son Hunter of misbehaving in relation to Ukraine and China while he was vice president. This is a claim that Biden denies.
Neither Baron Cohen nor anyone representing him has yet commented on Giuliani’s recent tweets about his new movie.
