The Poisons Center, affiliated with the Alexandria University School of Medicine, issued strong warnings to citizens about the cycus plant and that it afflicts humans with liver failure because it contains a carcinogen.

The center noted, in a statement on Saturday, regarding the toxicity of the cycas palm tree, that all parts of the cycas plant are poisonous, especially the seeds, as they contain the highest level of toxic cycasin, which causes irritation. of the digestive system.

The center explained that if high doses of plants are consumed, the human liver will fail, in addition to the fact that Ciccin contains a carcinogen, according to a recent international scientific research on the matter.
