US officials announced that several agencies affiliated with the US Department of Energy, including those related to nuclear weapons arsenals, have been breached as part of a massive attack by a group of hackers that has gained electronic access to more than ten US federal agencies

Shailene Haines, a spokesperson for the US Department of Energy, said in a press release on Friday that the commercial networks of the National Nuclear Safety Administration were affected by the failure to comply with a program of the US company (Solar Windows), which oversees network architecture in government and private companies.

He indicated that the ministry is working to respond to the cyber incident in coordination with partners of the federal government and companies, and that an investigation is being carried out in parallel with the efforts to confront the attack, cordon off its effects and isolate the penetrants, noting that the accident it did not affect the core work of the National Nuclear Safety Administration.

Several government agencies and departments have reported violations targeting their electronic networks, including the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, in addition to several national laboratories and some departments of the Ministry of Transportation, where the US finger in the attack is targeting Russian hackers.
