Former Liverpool and Newcastle player Michael Owen expressed surprise that Reds player Sadio Mane did not fall into Newcastle’s penalty area during the match that brought them together in the English Premier League.

Liverpool were invited to Newcastle on Wednesday night in the 16th round of the Premier League, and the match ended in a goalless draw.

During the match, Mane was blocked by Newcastle goalkeeper Carl Darlo, but Mane did not fall to the ground and the referee did not demand a penalty kick.

And as reported by the British newspaper “Daily Mail”, Owen was surprised that Mane did not try to get a penalty that would seal the match in favor of the leaders of the Premier League.

The “Daily Mail” quoted Owen’s speech, in which he said: “I am surprised that Mane did not yell and did not ask the referee why he did not award a penalty in his favor.”

He added: “I am surprised that he did not fall to the ground, it is quite clear that the guard obstructed him.”

He concluded: “I’m sure Juergen Klopp (Liverpool manager) will think if Mane falls. He certainly won’t be able to reveal this, but I’m sure he will.”

It is worth noting that Liverpool top the Premier League table with 33 points, 3 points behind second-placed Manchester United.
