The Japan Swimming Federation announced that Daya Seto, the only representative of Japanese swimming who is already qualified for the next Tokyo 2020 Olympics, will be suspended for the rest of the year, due to the betrayal of his wife, after he reveal that she was on an extramarital affair.

The Spanish newspaper “Marca” reported that the Japanese Swimming Association announced that Daya Seto would be suspended by the end of this year for betraying his wife, but the sanction imposed by the federation on the player will not prevent him from participating in the next Olympic Games in Tokyo 2020, which will begin on July 23. 2021.

A Japanese newspaper revealed last September that Seto, 26, had dated a woman whose wife had not been in a hotel for the past month, a relationship the swimmer himself admitted and for which he publicly apologized.

Seto, who has two daughters by his wife, said the relationship was an “indifferent act” that hurt his family, supporters and caregivers. Days after learning of these events, the swimmer resigned his position as captain of the Japanese Olympic Swimming Team and lost the support of one of his sponsors.

And the Japan Swimming Federation decided to force Seto to stay away from any sporting and official activities for the rest of the year. He considered that the action was contrary to the standards of behavior established by the Federation.

On Monday, Seto appeared before the Ethics Committee of the Sports Authority to refer to the case, and among the events from which Sato is excluded is the Japanese Swimming Championship in December, although the swimmer can still appeal these sanctions, upon learning the decision.

The swimmer holds the world record for 200 m butterfly and 400 m sprint, in 2018 and second in last year.
