The Spanish club Barcelona announced today, Thursday, that it has signed a contract with American Sergino Dust, Ajax Amsterdam’s right back.
The Catalan club said in an official statement published on its website: “Barcelona announces its contract with the American side Sergio Dest for a period of 5 seasons.”
The statement adds: “The player will defend the Blaugrana shirt until the 2024-2025 season, and the total value of the contract is 21 million euros plus 5 million euros as additional variants.”
The Catalan club confirmed in its statement that the value of the penalty clause that was placed in the young American player’s contract amounted to 400 million euros.
The contract with Dust comes to compensate for the departure of Portuguese right-back Nelson Simedo from Barcelona, heading to English Wolverhampton.
The 19-year-old American footballer is admired by Dutch coach Ronald Koeman, who plans to rely on him as part of his starting lineup this season.

The player was also the focus of the German club Bayern Munich, but chose to move to Barcelona after a long fight between the two clubs during the current Summer Market.
The young player appeared in 20 games in the Ajax Amsterdam squad last season in the Dutch league, and managed to score 4 goals.
