Books – Omar Qura:

Frenchman Patrice Carteron, a former Zamalek coach, explained his decision to leave the White Castle, stating that he was waiting for the right moment to reveal his wish.

Carteron had asked for time to consider Zamalek president Mortada Mansour’s offers to stay at the club, before returning to office again to announce his final decision.

“I thank the Zamalek board of directors for the period I spent,” Carteron said, in his meeting with the Zamalek board of directors. “I’ve been studying the decision to leave for some time, not because of the money.”

And he added: “My decision to leave Zamalek was not born yesterday, but I was studying it for a long time, and I was waiting for the right moment to announce it, and the decision was made final and irreversible.”

He continued: “I see that the team has a full month to prepare for the African Champions League, and it is enough time.”

“I understand the reaction of the board and the fans,” concluded Carteron, “but I appreciate the good treatment.”

Mortada Mansour responded by saying: “There is no coach or player who continues to be coerced within the club. Carteron did not interfere with his work and was choosing the formation he wanted.”

The Zamalek president concluded by saying: “Sad and shocked by Carteron’s decision, because we expected that this month he would continue with us until the end of the African Champions League.”

Zamalek is reportedly set to face the Aswan team next Friday in the league championship, and is set to face the Moroccan Raja next month in the semi-finals of the African Champions League.
