The British government has imposed new rules for English Premier League clubs participating in European competitions, as well as for international matches.

Premier League matches take place amid specific rules and strict precautionary measures in the face of coexistence with the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

And as reported in the English media, the government has imposed new restrictions on “Premier League” clubs requiring “10 days of self-isolation” for any travel outside the country.

English Premier League players and employees are required to isolate themselves for up to 10 days after returning from Champions League and European League matches away from home, allowing them only to leave their homes to train and play.

The “Daily Mail” newspaper indicated that new instructions issued by the UK government require players and coaches in the English Premier League to be isolated for a period of 10 days after any trip abroad, complicating the schedules of the teams that are still in the Champions League and the European League.

The “Daily Mail” said that prior to the new restrictions imposed on all Premier League clubs and revealed by “The Athletic”, there were no specific guidelines for players and employees returning from trips abroad.

The isolation period can be reduced from 10 to 5 days in the event that the person undergoes a medical examination and the sample is negative, but outside of training and matches, a mandatory 10-day quarantine will be required for all trips abroad to clubs or international football.
