Dr. Khaled Mujahid, adviser to the Minister of Health, Population for Media Affairs and official spokesman for the ministry, explained that the minister reviewed the stock of medicines and medical supplies, as well as the strategic limit of medical oxygen in hospitals, pointing to the activation of an electronic system through which the rates of medical oxygen consumption and the number of beds occupied in ventilators are reported. And updating them 24 hours a day, as long as the strategic oxygen limit for any hospital is not less than 12 hours of operation with 100% occupancy.
Mujahid added that the minister has ordered to assign a medical team in each hospital to monitor the supply process of new cases infected by the Coronavirus in hospitals 24 hours a day, in accordance with good clinical practices and Coronavirus treatment protocols. updated in this regard, in addition to setting up a central supply operations room in the ministry to monitor the supply process and continuous monitoring. According to the oxygen consumption rates of the hospital, and two reports were submitted a day to the Minister, in order to keep up to date on the latest developments.
Mujahid affirmed that the medical oxygen supply management system for hospitals that receive patients with the new Corona virus includes three modalities, namely, the contracts that the health directorates celebrate with liquid oxygen companies in each province according to need. routine, and the central contract with the main gas companies where 400 thousand liters per day are centrally supplied. At the disposal of the Ministry, they are used in the emergency supply to the directorates in case of a sudden increase in consumption above the normal rate, as well as in a routine central supply for the main governorates that have a high consumption rate ( Cairo, Giza, Beheira, Qaliubiya, Damietta, Sharkia, Dakahlia and Gharbia).
