Cairo – Masrawy:
Al-Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane said the team did not believe in their ability to win during the first half against Zamalek due to players’ anxiety that the players had been absent from the tournament for seven consecutive years.
Al-Ahly won the Champions League for the first time after the 2013 edition, which saw the African princess last appearance at the Red Castle, after which the Horn of Africa champion failed to clinch the title in two consecutive finals in 2017 and 2018.
Musimani added to Al-Ahly channel, “I did not lecture between the two halves of the meeting, to sit in a separate room and leave Al-Shennawi as the team leader to talk to his colleagues and motivate them to win the title.”
And then he continued: “Then I carried the banner and spoke after the Al-Shenawi conference. I told them that we have to change something that has happened in the last seven years.”
The South African explained: “Success in Al-Ahly comes from respecting customs, traditions and culture, even religion. You have to get involved in the place and be a part of it to convince those around you that you are a member of them and then earn their trust and this is what I did with my team. “
“You are in the biggest club in Africa. You have to deal according to their traditions, endure the pressure and achieve their goals. I came here and touched the insistence on crowning the championship.
He concluded: “If you cannot bear the pressures and circumstances that you face, then you do not deserve to train the Al-Ahly Club.”
