Mortada Mansour, president of the isolated Zamalek club and a candidate for the House of Representatives elections, issued a distress call to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, sparking a storm of controversy on social media.
The activists considered Mansour’s message as a clear confusion between the sports and the political, to justify the decisions issued by the Egyptian Olympic Committee and the Supreme Media Council against the board of directors and the channel of the Zamalek Club, while his followers launched Tag “Dammit Zamalek, Sissy” on Twitter.
Mansour spoke in a video that lasted about half an hour, appealing to Al-Sisi, whom he described as the conspirators against him and the Zamalek club, he said.
Mortada said: “Enough of injustice and slander. The conspirators are Qatari supporters, backed by some officials, and their goal is to destroy Zamalek and save its president.”
He said: “There is a club that now defends itself for the benefit of external and internal forces that have nothing to do with sports,” accusing the officials and their aides, some of them from the Brotherhood, in cooperation with the “officials of Qatari intelligence “against him and his club.
He justified his claim that they want revenge, after “for a whole year before the events of June 30, he had been mobilizing Egyptians against the Brotherhood and against the late President Mohamed Morsi,” he said.
Mansour listed the benefits Zamalek gained during his tenure as club president, the tournaments he won and the developments that led him to a summit alongside the Al-Ahly Club, as described by him.
He accused the former administrations of the club of corruption, and condemned the recent decisions that were taken against him, inciting those who “want discord and chaos for Egypt”, as he himself put it, and said that the Olympic Committee is not legally authorized to punish him.
Regarding the House elections, Mansour, the candidate from the Mit Ghamr district in Dakahlia, accused the “Future of a Nation” party in the governorate of “intimidating and trying to transform the electoral district into a club and a blood blessing “.
He commented that the party secretary there, his father, died in prison in a drug case, saying: “The issue has gone too far … I want to understand why the drug traffickers are going to see themselves as a new national party. The people want to destroy Zamalek before the game and destroy me before the elections … I want to know who. ” And after them?
He continued: “I want my right and the right of the club to be with me. Neither I nor the Zamalek fans will continue to be part of the chaos in Egypt, but there are people who want to anticipate the country and want struggles and chaos. The countries want to rule.”
Mansour concluded his message to Sisi by saying: “I sold this video to the director of His Excellency’s office, Major General Abbas Kamel and State Security. I know it terrifies our Lord, President, and he will do me justice.”
Many are awaiting the second phase of the elections to the Egyptian Parliament that will take place next month, to find out the fate of Mortada Mansour, whose immunity hampers many issues, among which the reports presented by the Board of Directors of the Al-Ahly Club stand out, headed by Mahmoud Al-Khatib, accused of insulting and defaming.
Ahmed Mortada Mansour’s son had lost in the first phase elections in Dokki district, and a few hours ago, the Refereeing and Arbitration Center of the Olympic Committee issued a decision to officially invalidate the Zamalek club roster and exclude Ahmed Mortada Mansour, Hamada Anwar and Ahmed Adel Abdel Fattah.
The Olympic Committee issued the decision to suspend Murtado Mansour for a period of 4 years and a fine of 100,000 pounds, while the Supreme Media Council yesterday issued a decision to suspend the “Zamalekawi” program for a period of 3 weeks, without Ahmed Gamal, one of the show’s hosts, appearing in any media for a period of 3 months. For the transgressions of the club president during his speeches on the main Zamalek TV program.
Zamalek will face the Moroccan club Raja next Sunday at 9:00 pm at the Cairo Stadium in the second leg of the semi-finals of the African Champions League.
