Egyptian football legend Mohamed Abu Trika was the first to congratulate Al-Ahly on winning the Egyptian Cup for the 37th time in Red Castle history, after beating the Army Vanguards on penalties.
Al-Ahly fought for the title against team Al-Jaysh, which was grouped in defense, and the match ended in its original time and in overtime with a one-on-one draw.
Mahmoud Kahraba scored for Al-Ahly in the 65th minute and Al-Tale’a’s equalizer came in injury time.
In the penalty shootout, Ayman Ashraf and Mohamed Magdy “Afsha” conceded to Al-Ahly, while Ali Maaloul, Amr Al-Sulayyah and Badr Bannon scored for Al-Ahly winning 3-2 on penalties.
Abu Trika, tweeted on his official account on the social network “Twitter” immediately after the end of the match: “Al-Ahly is the king of tournaments .. Triple League, Africa and Cup, waiting for the Super”.
He added: “Congratulations to my family. We appreciate the championships … Praise God.”
Prince of Hearts was eager to joke with “Afsha” after he blew a penalty and wrote, “Spread with him and you don’t care, your balance is allowed.”
Al-Ahly won the title for the 37th time in its history and also won a hat-trick this season after winning the Premier League and the African Champions League.
