Books – Ali Al-Bahji:
Said Wahbi, the official spokesman for Moroccan club Raja, said his club did not rely on letters or statements from Zamalek officials when it asked to postpone the two teams’ match in the African Champions League.
Wehbe added, speaking to fans of the third Ontime Sports program, that the decision made by the African Football Confederation “enough” was humanitarian of the first degree.
He continued: “The decision of the African Union to postpone the match against Zamalek is 100% correct. Now we have the entire team, whether they are players, administrators or medical devices, in quarantine.”
He pointed out that postponing the confrontation was a humanitarian act of the first order, and the most important thing now is the health of the players and their return to their families and children, and then talk about football.
He explained that the inability to travel to Cairo was for compelling reasons, not in his hands, and noted that there was an emergency due to the injury of a large number of players.
He confirmed that Fawzi Lakjaa, president of the Moroccan Federation, was the one who contacted Raja and then the African Union to postpone the match.
And he added: “We followed the statements of Zamalek officials on social media, but our official conversation was only with Kaf, and what was not the case was only humanitarian support.”
A spokesperson for Raja concluded his remarks: “We did not rely on any letter from Zamalek or anything like that. We have presented official documents from the Moroccan authorities and therefore our position was correct.”
