Today, Friday, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities issued an explanation of the images that circulated on social networks, which show traces of water splashing under the walls of the exterior terraces that surround the Palace of the Baron building.
Brigadier Engineer Hisham Samir, Undersecretary of Tourism and Antiquities for Antiquities Projects and Museums and General Supervisor of the Cairo Historical Project, confirmed that the walls of the Baron Palace are completely safe and the visit continues without stopping, and that what appears below there is some moisture on the walls and you leave as a consequence of the proximity of these walls to the garden that was. It is narrated by immersion in previous periods.
In the statement, Samir indicated that during the palace restoration project, the irrigation system used in the garden was changed and replaced by the drip irrigation system, and the cultivated areas were moved away to safe distances to preserve the artistic value of the elements on the walls until the floor and building material were completely dry.
He added that due to the saturation of the soil layers with water, some salts appeared under the fences near the garden and were treated first-hand, in succession, until they stopped appearing by the proper technical methods.
The deputy minister indicated that all the necessary measures were taken as soon as the salts appeared, and a team of engineers from the Ministry and the Arab Company of Contractors is currently working on the works to remove salts and ventilation of the walls.
