Argentine soccer legend and Barcelona captain Lionel Messi paid tribute to his late compatriot Maradona, and punishment was imposed on the Catalan club.

Messi scored Barcelona’s fourth goal against Osasuna, during the two teams’ match on Sunday, and dedicated the goal to the spirit of Argentine soccer legend Maradona.

Lionel Messi wore his jersey with Newell’s Old Boys, a joint team for which the two biggest stars played during their soccer careers.

And the Spanish newspaper “Sport” confirmed that the gesture of honoring Lionel Messi to his fellow Argentine soccer legend, Maradona, caused a penalty at the Catalan club.

The Spanish newspaper added that Barcelona will have to pay 3,000 euros, after Messi’s gesture, pointing out that these are the rules of the International Football Association, FIFA.

And FIFA rules forbid taking off your jersey to display any other logo on both halves of the match, and Messi broke these rules in yesterday’s match for Argentine soccer legend Maradona.

Barcelona captain Lionel Messi was sanctioned with a disciplinary sanction during the match, after the referee declared him a yellow card after removing his shirt during the goal celebration.
