French President Emmanuel Macron arrived at the home of the great Lebanese singer Fairouz tonight, Monday, as part of his second visit to Lebanon, following the bomb attack in the port of Beirut on August 4.
Macron confirmed that his visit to Lebanon is aimed at addressing the current political situation, noting that Paris does not seek to interfere in Beirut’s internal affairs, but wants to ensure the formation of a government with a “specific mission” as soon as possible.

“Our goal is not to invade Lebanese sovereignty … We will be firm, but not interfere,” Macron told a press conference upon arrival in Beirut.
“The objective of my visit is also to address the political situation, and my position is strict without interference,” he added. “A new prime minister was appointed in Lebanon and I have no right to accept or reject because it is a question of Lebanese sovereignty.”

He added: “I would like to ensure that a government with a mission is formed as soon as possible to carry out the necessary reforms in the interest of the Lebanese.”
Macron had written in his program before his arrival on his Twitter account the phrase “A date with a cup of coffee with Fayrouz in Antelias on Monday night.”
The French president is supposed to begin his official visit within an agenda packed with political milestones that reflect the depth of the historical ties that have linked Paris to Beirut for more than 100 years.
