Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp spoke after his team lost to Arsenal on matchday 16 of the English Football League Cup, stressing that “if there is anyone who should win in 90 minutes, it is us.”

Liverpool came out of the round of 16 of the English Professional League Cup, after losing to Arsenal on penalties 4-5, after ending the regulation time of their match, played on Thursday in a goalless draw.

“If there is anyone who must be victorious in the 90 minutes, it is us, not Arsenal,” Klopp said in press statements after the game.

He added: “But we had to convert the opportunities we have within our reach into goals to be able to win, we are not in the land of dreams”, referring to the “Anfield” stadium, Liverpool’s stronghold, where the team has not suffered any losses since long time ago.

And the German coach added: “At the same time, I liked many things in the game, I saw a good performance. The penalty shoot-out is not a gift, everyone knows it.”

He continued: “We lost the last touch in the game with Arsenal, and the players from both teams managed to take cover, and there weren’t many chances to score.”
