Polish footballer Robert Lewandowski won the 2020 FIFA World Player of the Year award during the FIFA award ceremony in Zurich, Switzerland on Thursday.
Lewandowski, the Bayern Munich star, edged out both Lionel Messi, the Barcelona captain, and Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, Juventus’ top scorer.
The following are the remaining winners at the awards ceremony:
– Lucy Bronze Award for Best Player.
– The prize for the best goalkeeper of 2020 is won by French goalkeeper Sarah Bouhdi, goalkeeper of the Lyon team.
The award for the best goalkeeper obtained by Manuel Neuer, protector of Bayern Munich’s hideout.
– “Puskas” Award, which is won with the best goal by South Korean Son Heung-min.
The award for best coach of women’s teams was won by Dutch coach “The Mills”, Sarina Wegmann.

The ceremony was held at the FIFA headquarters behind closed doors for the first time due to the Corona virus, and its activities were streamed over the Internet, and was hosted by former Dutch star Ruud Guliet and British sports journalist Reshmin Chowdhury.
The annual FIFA awards ceremony was supposed to take place on September 21 in Milan, Italy, but was postponed until December 17 due to repercussions from the Corona virus.
The winners were chosen by vote by the leaders and coaches of the national teams, a group of more than 200 journalists and fans surveyed online between November 25 and December 9.
