Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – A military court in Lebanon on Wednesday night sentenced Fadl Shaker to 22 years in prison with forced labor.
The official Lebanese news agency reported that the permanent military court handed down two sentences in absentia, the artist Fadel Shamandar, known thanks to Shaker.
The agency stated that the first ruling sentenced Fadl Shaker to 15 years in prison for “interfering in terrorist acts committed by terrorists with his knowledge of the matter by providing logistical services to them.”
The second ruling sentenced him to 7 years in prison and fined him 5 million pounds for “the crime of financing the armed group Ahmed Al-Assir, spending on it and securing the price of arms and ammunition.”
In September 2017, a Lebanese military court sentenced Shakir to 15 years in prison with forced labor.
At that time, the same court decided at the time to execute the Salafi cleric, Ahmed Al-Assir, who accompanied Shaker, in the case of the Abra events in the city of Sidon, in June 2013, who witnessed bloody witnesses battles between Al-Asir supporters and the Lebanese army, which resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries on both sides.
Shaker had started singing again, introducing songs in the Egyptian and Gulf dialects, the last of which was “Stay Meet Me” two days ago.
