Learn about the plan to receive the Corona vaccine in Saudi Arabia. Who are the first beneficiaries?

The Saudi Ministry of Health announced the start of the registration of the new vaccine against the Corona virus, starting Tuesday, for all citizens and residents, through the “My Health” application.

The Saudi Ministry of Health confirmed, “The safety and efficacy of the vaccine, given that it passed the stages of effective testing of the vaccine and the appearance of a strong immune response and continuous antibodies,” according to the agency “SPA”.

A few days ago, Saudi Arabia joined the club of countries that licensed the vaccine for the two companies, “Pfizer” and “Biontech”, against Coronavirus, and the Saudi Food and Drug Authority announced its approval to register the vaccine “Pfizer – Biontech” for the Corona virus, in the Kingdom, after a company presented Pfizer requests approval for its registration.

The authority clarified that, based on the approval, the interested health authorities will initiate the import procedures in accordance with the standards and requirements for this, and the authority will analyze samples of each incoming shipment of the vaccine before using it to ensure its quality. and the Ministry of Health will announce the arrival date of the vaccine and the start of its use.

1- It will be freely available to all citizens and residents.

2- It has 3 stages and each stage has target groups.

3- The objectives of the first stage:

Citizens and residents over 65 years of age.

People in the profession are more vulnerable to infections

People who are obese and have a body mass greater than 40.

Those with immunodeficiency, such as an organ transplant

Those who take immunosuppressive drugs.

The first stage also includes those with two or more of the following chronic diseases:

Asthma, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, chronic heart disease, including coronary artery disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and those with a history of a previous stroke.

The target group in the second stage is:

Citizens and residents over 50 years of age

The rest of the health professionals

Those with one of the following chronic diseases: asthma, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, chronic heart disease, including coronary artery disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and active cancer.

– Those who are obese and have a body mass between 30 – 40.

The third stage is aimed at all citizens and residents who want to receive the vaccine.

The Ministry of Health pointed out that this step comes “to complement the efforts of the Kingdom … which had a clear role to face this pandemic and preserve the health and safety of citizens and residents.”

Saudi Arabia had previously announced that it would be “one of the first countries to receive vaccines that meet efficacy and safety standards, directly from major international companies in the vaccine industry, and through the international Kovacs facility.”
