The statement indicated that Ahmed Ahmed was suspended following an investigation conducted by Ahmed as head of CAF between 2017 and 2019 related to the organization and financing of Umrah for the city of Mecca and his participation in Caf’s dealings with Sports Equipment Company and other activities.

Ahmed Ahmed assumed the presidency of the African Football Confederation in March 2017, succeeding Cameroonian Issa Hayatou, who remained in office for 29 years.
