Press editor Khaled Meri, undersecretary of the Journalists Union, said the date for the journalists’ elections has not yet been decided, adding that the closest thing so far is not holding the elections.
And he continued, during a telephone conversation with the journalist Ahmed Moussa, in the program “On my responsibility”, broadcast by the Sada Al-Balad channel, that the Ministry of Health refused to hold the elections to the Council of the Journalists Union for Corona .
Mary added that the Fatwa and Legislation sections will analyze whether the elections will take place or not, and explained that the administrative judiciary is investigating the case to stop the elections of the Union of Journalists.
He added that there is a lawsuit filed by a fellow candidate for membership in the Council, a minor, asking that the elections be postponed due to Corona.
He stressed that no one in the Union Council is willing to postpone the elections of the Journalists Union, explaining: We are committed to holding the elections in the union building, but it is poorly ventilated, which is an opportunity to infect everyone with Corona in the presence of about 7 thousand people.
He explained that there are 6 candidates for the presidency and 55 for the deputy, 15 more than the number of candidates in the last elections.
Journalist Khaled Miri, Undersecretary of the Press Union, concluded that the Ministry of the Interior refused to set up a marquee in the street to hold the elections for the Journalists Union by decision of the Ministry of Health.
