German Jurgen Klopp, the first team coach of Liverpool Football Club, revealed his opinion in the comparison between Argentina’s Lionel Messi, captain of Barcelona, and Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo, the Juventus star.
Messi scored 697 goals in his 856 games for Barcelona and Argentina, while Ronaldo scored 725 times in the 1,000 games with Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Portugal.
The two players competed for the best soccer players in the world for more than a decade, winning 11 gold balls.
“I faced them during my training career more than once, and they are both almost impossible to defend against,” Klopp said in comments to the Free Kickers channel on YouTube.
He added: «Messi has much less physical abilities from birth. “If you can paint yourself an ideal player, he will be Ronaldo, he will be able to jump and run quickly, he is an ideal player and he cannot be better than he is now.”
He continued: “But this little Messi makes everything easy and simple in front of you, and therefore I love him perhaps a little more as a player, but Ronaldo is also a wonderful player.
He continued: “For me, I prefer Messi, but I respect Ronaldo … the common factor between the two players is that they left their marks and everyone will remember them for a long time.”
