Argentine coach Miguel Gamunde, Wydad coach, said that Al-Ahly’s loss today in the semifinals of the African Champions League with two unanswered goals in Casablanca represents a great disappointment and attributed the defeat to the pressure of the matches that fought the team before the game today.

“I had two or three players that I brought to the game who weren’t ready because we had a marathon period of games recently,” Jamundi said in televised comments after the game. “We played a good ball in the first half, but we made a fatal mistake that caused the first goal and in the second half we missed a penalty,” he said.

Regarding the lowering of the level, he said: “We did not play in the usual way, and we reached the semifinals and we were exhausted and mentally tense and we had many injuries.”

He went on to say: “We will not give up in the second leg, we will rally our forces and play the game against Al-Ahly at the Cairo Stadium with all our strength, and we are hopeful of qualifying.”

Regarding the loss, he said: “We missed the game in our stadium, but Wydad is a great team and we have to send a message to everyone that we are not going to give up.”

Al-Ahly and Wydad will meet next Friday at Cairo Stadium in the second leg of the semi-final.
