The second phase of the elections to the 2020 Chamber of Deputies ended yesterday Sunday, after continuing for 5 consecutive days, three of them abroad, November 4, 5 and 6, and two days inside yesterday and the first yesterday November 7 and 8, waiting to count the votes of the voters and announce the results of the preliminary commissions and the final result.

The electoral process took place in the second phase in 13 governorates, namely: Cairo, Qalyubia, Dakahlia, Menoufia, Gharbia, Kafr El Sheikh, Sharkia, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai and South Sinai.

According to the schedule set by the National Electoral Authority headed by Lashin Ibrahim, the return of the second phase will take place abroad on December 5, 6 and 7, while at home it will take place on 7 and December 8.

In the single system, 2,085 candidates competed in 70 individual districts in this phase, while the number of candidates in the roster system in the second phase was 284 main candidates.

Regarding the list system, Egypt’s National List competed with the Independent Alliance list in the Cairo Sector, South and Central Delta district for 100 seats, while in the Eastern Delta Sector, the battle between the Egypt’s National List and the Sons of Egypt list held for 42 seats.

The House of Representatives is made up of 568 members, elected by direct, secret, general vote of 284 seats in the single system and 284 seats by closed and absolute lists, and the President of the Republic has the right to appoint a percentage that does not exceed 5% of the members.
