The head of Iran’s Nuclear Energy Organization, Ali Akbar Salehi, announced on Sunday that there are 1,044 centrifuges currently working on uranium enrichment at the Fordo site, as part of Tehran’s reduction of its obligations regarding the nuclear deal. .

On Sunday, Ali Akbar Salehi said: “Iran has completed the fourth step to reduce its commitment to the nuclear deal and consequently enrichment will be carried out through 1.44 centrifuges at the Fordo nuclear site,” according to the official Iranian news agency IRNA.
“We had committed ourselves, according to the nuclear agreement, not to use this number in the field of enrichment, but according to the programs to reduce the promises to the agreement, the enrichment will be based on the needs of the country,” he added.
Stock 10 times greater than allowed
In early September, the International Atomic Energy Agency reported that Iran’s enriched uranium stocks exceed ten times the limit stipulated in the 2015 nuclear deal that the Islamic Republic concluded with the major powers.
At a recent meeting in Vienna, Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia, which were still committed to the nuclear deal, announced that they wanted to find a way to ensure “its full implementation despite current challenges.”
