The president of the International Handball Federation, Hassan Mustafa, clarified his moving statement at the opening of the Handball World Cup “Egypt 2021”, in which he said that President Hosni Mubarak asked to miss Egypt’s match in favor of France in the World Cup 2001.

In his speech, Hassan Mustafa assured that everyone was happy with the dazzling opening of the Egypt 2021 Handball World Cup, indicating that strict precautionary measures have been taken.
Hassan Mustafa surprised everyone during a speech he gave at the hand-drawn tournament “Egypt 2021”, when he spoke of facing France and Egypt in the semifinals of the 2001 World Cup, where he said: “I met with the late Jacques Chirac, former President of France, and I told him that Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, the former president of Egypt, spoke to me about missing the match between the two countries at the 2001 World Cup.
He added: “Mubarak told me that the French are our friends, and this is what I said to Chirac when I met him.”

It should be noted that Egypt lost that match to France, 21-24, to climb to the final and win the title to the detriment of Sweden, while Egypt finished the tournament in fourth place, after losing the match for third place to Yugoslavia 17 -27.
