Hassan Mustafa surprised everyone during a speech he gave at the hand-drawn tournament “Egypt 2021”, when he spoke of facing France and Egypt in the semifinals of the 2001 World Cup, where he said: “I met with the late Jacques Chirac, former President of France, and I told him that Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, the former president of Egypt, spoke to me about missing the match between the two countries at the 2001 World Cup.

He added: “Mubarak told me that the French are our friends, and this is what I said to Chirac when I met him.”
