A security source said Major General Mahmoud Tawfiq, the interior minister, inspected the Tora prison area as soon as he was informed of the failed escape attempt to check on the police and monitor the work of the insurance. .
The source added that the minister highlighted the implementation of strict security measures in the insurance business, praising the efforts made by the police to thwart the prisoners’ attempted escape.
The source indicated that the Interior Minister reviewed the wounded detained in an armed forces hospital.
The incident resulted in the deaths of two policemen, Amr Abdel-Moneim and Mohamed Effat, as well as a Blockamine member and an insurance guard.
A security source had stated that 4 of those sentenced to death were killed while trying to escape from Tora prison on Wednesday morning.
The four convicted are Mr. Atta Muhammad, Ammar Al-Shahat Muhammad Al-Sayed, Hassan Zakaria, Motamed Morsi and Madih Ramadan Hassan Ala Al-Din.
