The State Information Service confirmed that Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health, will receive, on Sunday, the second shipment of the Corona vaccine, which arrives from the UAE.
In a letter to foreign media, the authority indicated that those who wish to cover media must send photographs of their identity cards through the “WhatsApp” application, provided that they are notified today of the arrival date of the shipment.
And earlier, Osama Heikal, Minister of State for Information, confirmed that President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi had ordered doses of the Corona virus vaccine to be administered to Egyptians free of charge.
Heikal said in a press release that the first payments will be awarded to the most vulnerable groups, including doctors and isolation hospital staff, the elderly and some groups that pose a threat to their lives.
Heikal emphasized that Egypt is the first country in Africa to obtain the Coronavirus vaccine, and the second Arab country to obtain it after the United Arab Emirates, indicating that Egypt obtained the vaccine before the countries of the European Union and the United States of America. This reflects the success of the government in its continuous efforts since the beginning of the crisis.
Heikal clarified that concerns about good and balanced relations with China, and Egypt’s participation in clinical trials of the vaccine, were among the most important reasons for obtaining the vaccine once it was approved.
The Minister of State for Information added that the Minister of Health, Dr. Hala Zayed, underwent the first clinical trials of the Chinese vaccine.
He also indicated that the fact that Egypt obtained the vaccine so early reflects its status and international status.
Heikal announced that this vaccine had received emergency approval from the World Health Organization, and that the scientific committee of the Ministry of Health agreed to use it after the success of its clinical trials.
